Account Deletion & Data Retention Policy

Effective Date: [To be inserted on publication]  |  Last Reviewed: 1 July 2026

This document has been prepared with reference to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and general Indian consumer protection principles as understood at the time of drafting. It is provided to assist HappinessCue's operations and has been prepared by an AI system, not a licensed advocate. It should be reviewed and formally approved by a qualified Indian lawyer before public launch, and periodically thereafter as law and platform features evolve.

1. Your Right to Request Deletion

You may request deletion of your HappinessCue account and associated personal data at any time by contacting support@happinesscue.com, or through an in-platform account deletion option where available. This right is provided consistent with your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What Happens When You Request Deletion

  • We will verify your identity before processing a deletion request, to protect against fraudulent requests made by someone other than the account holder.
  • Once verified, we will erase or irreversibly anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, save for the exceptions described in Section 3 below.
  • If you are an Expert with a public profile, your profile will be removed from public listings promptly upon deletion, and any pending bookings will be handled in accordance with our Payment, Cancellation & Refund Policy.

3. Information We May Retain, and Why

Notwithstanding a deletion request, we may retain certain information for a defined period where necessary:

  • Where required to comply with applicable law, including the minimum one-year retention of processing logs required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.
  • Where necessary to resolve an open dispute, complaint, grievance, or legal claim involving your account.
  • Financial and transaction records, where applicable, retained for the period required under Indian tax and accounting law.
  • Aggregated or anonymised data that no longer identifies you, which may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement purposes.

Once the applicable retention period ends, this information will be deleted or fully anonymised.

4. Inactive Accounts

Accounts that remain inactive (no login, booking, or platform activity) for an extended period, as configured by HappinessCue from time to time, may be flagged for review and, following reasonable notice to the registered email address, may be deactivated or scheduled for deletion in accordance with this Policy.

5. Effect of Deletion on Other Users

Reviews you have written about an Expert, or that an Expert has written about you (in the case of private conduct ratings), may be retained in anonymised or aggregate form even after account deletion, where necessary to preserve the integrity of the review and rating system for other users. Your name and identifying details will be removed from such retained records.

6. How to Request Deletion or Ask Questions

Email support@happinesscue.com with your registered email address and a clear request for account deletion. We will acknowledge your request and confirm once processed. For unresolved concerns, contact our Grievance Officer as described in our Terms of Use.
