HappinessCue has a minimum age for creating your own account. If the date of birth you enter is below that minimum, you can still register — but only as that child's parent or legal guardian, creating and managing the account on their behalf, and only after we've reviewed a document confirming that relationship.
Our current age thresholds
- Minimum registration age: 18 years.
- Maximum accepted age: 100 years — a date of birth implying an older age is rejected as invalid input, independent of guardian consent.
These are admin-configurable settings, so the exact numbers shown above always reflect our current, live policy — not a fixed figure that could go out of date.
If you're registering on behalf of a child
When the date of birth entered on the Client or Expert registration form implies an age below our minimum, you'll see a confirmation dialog asking whether you're that child's parent or legal guardian, registering the account for them. If you confirm, you'll be asked to upload one of the following (JPG, PNG, or PDF):
- A government-issued ID showing your relationship to the minor, or
- A signed consent letter confirming you are the minor's parent or legal guardian.
This document is required by default before the account is fully activated (this can occasionally be made optional by Admin, though that isn't our normal setting). If you decline the guardian confirmation instead, registration doesn't proceed for that date of birth.
How the review works
Your document is never auto-approved. It's queued for a real Admin to review, and shows one of three states while that happens:
- Pending Review — submitted, waiting for an Admin to look at it.
- Approved — confirmed; your account is fully active under the guardian arrangement.
- Rejected — not accepted, with a specific reason given (for example, an unclear scan or a document that doesn't establish the relationship). You can upload a new document from your account's verification page any time after a rejection — there's no limit on resubmitting.
What notifications to expect
You'll always get an in-app notification and an email once an Admin has actually reviewed your document — whether it's approved or rejected — and the rejection email includes the real reason given. If your document is approved, you may also receive an SMS confirming it; SMS isn't currently sent for a rejection, so check your email or your in-app notifications for that outcome specifically. (While your document is still pending, you won't get a notification for the submission itself — that confirmation goes to our Admin team, so they know a case is waiting on them.)
