If you register a Client or Expert account and never verify your email address, that account is automatically deactivated after a set idle period, and its email address is released so it can be used again right away. This page explains exactly what happens, in what order, and what it means for you.
Why we do this
A registration that was never verified and never used has no real history worth keeping — no bookings, no payments, no reviews. Rather than let these accounts sit indefinitely, we act on them after a fixed idle period so the platform stays clean and so the email address isn't permanently locked out of being used again.
How long do I have?
By default, an unverified account is acted on 14 days after registration if the verification email was never confirmed. From that point, it sits in a 30-day recovery window before it is permanently, irreversibly removed. Both periods are admin-configurable and may change — the safest way to avoid this process entirely is simply to verify your email as soon as you register.
What actually happens, step by step
- At the idle threshold (14 days by default): the account is deactivated and can no longer log in. Its email address is immediately released and becomes available again — either for you to register a fresh account, or for someone else. The account's profile information and setup data are preserved, not deleted, for now.
- During the recovery window that follows (30 days by default): the account can still potentially be restored by contacting support, provided the original email address hasn't since been claimed by a different account in the meantime. If it has, the original account can no longer be restored under that email.
- After the recovery window ends: the account and all of its data are permanently and irreversibly deleted. This step cannot be undone.
- This entire process only ever applies to an account that was never verified. The moment you verify your email, it no longer applies to you, no matter how long the account has existed since.
What if I actually used the account?
If, for any reason, an unverified account has real activity on it — a booking, a wallet balance, a review, or similar — it is automatically excluded from this process entirely and flagged for a human to look at instead. In practice this should never happen, since most real activity requires a verified email first, but we check for it directly rather than assuming.
What should I do?
Nothing, if you've already verified your email — you're not affected. If you registered and haven't verified yet, check your inbox (and spam folder) for the verification email, or request a new one from the login page, before the idle period runs out.
